The nurseries of GRUPORAGA,S.A. originally came from Zaragoza in the 1940s with José and Vicente Raga Pinilla, dedicated to the production of fruit and fruit nurseries. The development during the 1950s of nurseries expanding into ornamental plantation led to the setting up of nurseries for marketing in Madrid. In 1970, the sociedad anónima (joint stock corporation), Viveros Raga, S.A. was constituted as a trading company for the production and sale of gardening plants and works. In 1973, Construcciones y Conservaciones Raga, S.A., the construction company, was constituted as a gardening services company. In the 1980s, a third company was created called La Empresa de Conservación de Parques, S.A. Activity in the public and private park and garden sector has been constant since then until now, and GRUPORAGA,S.A. today can be considered as an environmental company specialised in the design and realisation of green spaces, and in their maintenance and conservation. This company now has more than 700 employees and a technical middle to upper management with wide-ranging experience in the environment. In January 2004, the three companies merged and became known as GRUPORAGA,S.A. This merger led to the integration of all the Gardening services offered until that time into one company, thus making it easier for our clients and suppliers to hire and manage, all with a change of corporate image. The last two years have seen a considerable upturn in sales despite the slight fall in M-30 works. However, thanks to these sales, both the nursery in the Calle Embajadores and the central offices of GRUPORAGA,S.A. currently occupy a privileged position in the city, and are well connected in every direction of the capital. The ease of free parking and the personal attention to retail clients have strengthened the loyalty of said clients and a significant increase in sales is expected in the coming years. Production has grown in the same direction, to the extent that the company now has various production centres in Madrid Capital and Province.
